Brush processing

A high-quality and deep crimping is also crucial for the durability and quality of the brush. This ensures a permanent connection between the brush head and the handle. The two so-called crimping grooves penetrate deep into the soft birch wood used. If the wooden handle swells up due to water absorption during painting, and then dries again, it loses volume. Thanks to our crimping process, the brush head does not detach from the handle. Brush heads from competitors, including those from Asia, are only glued on and detach from the wooden handle more quickly. Brushes from size 20 are glued on by us and additionally crimped so that they last even longer. Flat brushes (mottlers) are fitted with several clamps and also hold permanently.

There is no standardised international size range. In addition to our catalogue and price list, we are happy to provide you with our size charts on request. This includes the width or diameter of the brush and the visible hair length. We always measure this from the edge of the ferrule where the hair leaves the ferrule. The so-called brush thickness is also important. This indicates the amount of hair used in the brush or the thickness of the brush head. The thickness can also be found in our data-sheet.

Ferrule

Either made of metal or plastic or natural quills. The ferrules contain the hair and then connect it to the brush handle. For flat brushes standard qualities, tinplate ferrules are still used. For all other brushes, only non-rusting ferrules made of gold-plated and nickel-plated brass and as well as aluminum and stainless steel. High-quality seamless ferrules are important for the longevity and quality of the brushes.

4

Handle

Acrylic and mainly wooden handles are used. All wooden handles are made of either birch or beech and come exclusively from European, sustainable forestry. High-quality lacquered handles have four layers of lacquer and come exclusively from German quality suppliers. The paints are harmless to health and also suitable for children.
